In November 2024, Creole Culinary Classroom had the pleasure of hosting a very special Sip & Cook Class as part of a collaboration with the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau. This unique experience welcomed international food writers from Germany and Belgium, giving them an immersive taste of St. Maarten’s rich culinary heritage—right here in our kitchen.

A Culinary Exchange Rooted in Culture

The visiting writers were on the island participating in a series of food-focused programs designed to highlight St. Maarten as a vibrant culinary destination. Our hands-on Sip & Cook Class was a natural fit, offering an authentic, interactive way to experience Creole flavors, techniques, and stories.

Guided by our chefs, the guests rolled up their sleeves, learned about local ingredients, and prepared classic dishes while enjoying carefully paired sips.

We were honored to welcome distinguished culinary voices like Bas Erkens, representing Foodies Magazine from the Netherlands (foodiesmagazine.nl), known for spotlighting inspiring food destinations and culinary craftsmanship and Johan Kafkot, a respected culinary journalist from Belgium, celebrated for his deep knowledge of gastronomy and food culture and Sybylle Kroon journalist and influencer. Showcasing St. Maarten Through Food

This collaboration with the St. Maarten Tourist Bureau reflects a shared mission: to position the island not only as a beautiful destination, but as a must-visit culinary hotspot. Experiences like our Sip & Cook Class allow visiting writers and travelers alike to connect with St. Maarten on a deeper level—through flavor, technique, and community.
